You don't need a spec. Tell me what you want to do, how you're handling it today and what's missing in the tools you could just buy.
You know what you're getting before I start
We agree what has to be in at launch, how the thing works and what it connects to. You get a quote for that scope. If there's a cheaper way to test the idea first, I'll say so.
I design the screens, build it and test it before it goes live. You deal with me the whole way through.
What I need from you is your read on the business and your decisions; the technical calls I explain, together with what they cost you later.
A first version real people can use
Once it's live you find out how people actually use it and what they're missing. That's where the next round of features comes from.
Ongoing development and upkeep are part of what I do here, on terms we agree separately — they depend on how big the app is and how much runs through it.
Shipping the product doesn't prove anyone will pay for it. So we keep what we know apart from what we still have to find out.
